Lifting Up One Another (Devotional)

Do you have a co-worker, a parent, or an administrator who provides continual support?  Even on the roughest days, this person has a way of elevating your thoughts - helping you prioritize what’s truly important. They make teaching an even more rewarding experience!

One woman I worked with always had a bright smile on her face.  She had a singing voice like an angel and used it often to praise the name of Jesus.  She sang at church, during faculty worships, and always had a tune to share.  Whenever I came in contact with her in the hallway, I was almost always greeted with a genuine hug.  Simply seeing her face made my day brighter.

There were times that she was going through challenges, but you’d never know it.  Her demeanor was always fixated on showing Christ’s character.  Through her, I was able to see the Spirit’s joy on a daily basis.  It was unmistakable and infectious!

Ellen White tells us what Jesus was like with his daily work.  She shared that, “Jesus carried into His labor cheerfulness and tact. It requires much patience and spirituality to bring Bible religion into the home life and into the workshop, to bear the strain of worldly business, and yet keep the eye single to the glory of God. This is where Christ was a helper.

I’m grateful for those people in my life who show Jesus daily. Their example makes me strive to emulate that same character.  I hope that my attitude, words, and overall mindset help others to see Christ in me.  Remember! we’re told “Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind.”

Be the joy in someone else’s life as you go through your teaching today!
